Lab Trending is one of the most vital feature introduced to identify electronic lab trends. This feature allows you to review tests ordered for a patient over a period of time by comparing test results. The 2 types of trending are Quick Trending and Detail Trending. Quick Trending allows you to review results of a specific test at a time, and Detailed Trending allows you to review all test results for a specific order.

To view quick trending:

1.On the Results/Orders screen, click the Results tab.
2.Expand the test result by clicking theINSYNC~1_img362icon.
3.Click the Quick Trending iconINSYNC~1_img370 located in the Order/Result Details panel. The Result Trending screen is displayed for the selected patient.

 

To view detail trending:

1.On the Results/Orders screen, click the Results tab.
2.Expand the test result by clicking the INSYNC~1_img362icon.
3.Click the Detail Trending iconINSYNC~1_img370 to the left of the Save button. The Result Trending screen is displayed.

 

On the Result Trending screen, do the following:

Place the cursor above the Notes iconINSYNC~1_img373 to view the notes.
Normal test results are displayed in black text, abnormal results in red. A red Up arrow (INSYNC~1_img374) indicates a result above the specified normal range, and a red Down arrow (INSYNC~1_img375) indicates a result below the specified normal range.
Click Lab Letter to pull up the lab test results of the selected order along with the preconfigured letter format. You can print the letter and provide it to the patient. The lab letter can be configured from the Administration > Encounter Note & Letters section.
Click the Export to Excel iconINSYNC~1_img376 to export the trend of the selected order to an Excel file.
Click the Graph iconINSYNC~1_img377on the left pane near the test name to view the graphical representation of result trends in 2-dimensional (2-D) or 3-dimensional (3-D) format by selecting the appropriate options. On moving the mouse pointer above the blue dot, a small screen pops up with details that include accession number, test name, result value, units, reference range, abnormal flags, and order date.

Note: You can also view the Detail Trending by clicking the New or Abnormal link in the eResult section on the Dashboard.
